CIGOMBONG – Hundreds of residents joined forces to clean the shoreline and surface of Lido Lake on Sunday (1/11/2026). The initiative, titled the Lido Lake Clean-Up Action (Aksi Bersih Danau Lido), was initiated by the local community of Tambakan, Watesjaya Village, Cigombong District, Bogor Regency, West Java.
The activity involved local residents and was supported through a collaborative effort with the Cigombong District Government, Watesjaya Village Government, Bhumi Pasa Hijau, Danone Indonesia, and MNC Lido City Special Economic Zone (SEZ). This collaboration forms part of a joint effort to raise environmental awareness and preserve the ecological sustainability of Lido Lake.
During the initiative, residents worked together to collect organic and inorganic waste along the shoreline and throughout the central areas of the lake. The activity emphasized the spirit of gotong royong (mutual cooperation) and tangible environmental action, with the aim of bringing positive benefits to both the environment and surrounding communities.
Head of RT 02 in Tambakan, Andriansyah, described the initiative as a positive step toward fostering greater environmental awareness among residents.
“This is a very positive initiative. At the very least, we can work together to maintain our environment. Although it may seem like a small step, if we continue and carry it out consistently, the positive impact will ultimately benefit the community. We hope activities like this can be held together with our partners and companies every three months. The community has also shown great enthusiasm and participation,” said Andriansyah.
The impact of these collective efforts is also reflected in the improving environmental conditions. Program Manager of Bhumi Pasa Hijau, Nevky Emiraj Saputra, explained that the success of the initiative should not be measured solely by the clean-up activities, but also by the growing awareness among residents of the importance of keeping the lake clean.
“What we see from this initiative is not just the clean-up activity itself, but also how the community is becoming increasingly aware of the importance of cleanliness. Compared to similar activities last year, the amount of inorganic waste collected has decreased. We now also have a community-based lake monitoring group that plays an active role in preserving the lake, including monitoring areas upstream that channel water into it,” Nevky explained.
For the people of Cigombong, Lido Lake is more than just a body of water. It is an integral part of their livelihoods and is closely connected to the area's history, culture, fisheries, local economy, tourism, and social life. Therefore, preserving the lake is a shared responsibility that requires the involvement of various stakeholders.
Efforts to protect the lake's sustainability are also supported through ongoing environmental management initiatives. Head of the Town Management Division at MNC Lido City SEZ, Syaiful Ardiansyah, expressed his strong support for the Lido Lake Clean-Up Action as a collaborative effort to maintain the cleanliness of the lake and preserve its ecosystem.
“We strongly support this initiative because maintaining the cleanliness and sustainability of Lido Lake requires shared awareness and collective involvement. For this activity, 40 personnel from our Town Management team and Lido Lake Resort Hotel joined local residents in working together. Beyond this initiative, we also regularly carry out environmental maintenance activities around the lake, including removing waste and aquatic weeds from the shoreline and water surface, conducting periodic water quality monitoring, and managing a retention pond spanning approximately five hectares. The pond helps expand the lake's water-storage area and serves as a buffer zone, which is expected to help filter water from upstream areas before it flows into Lido Lake,” Syaiful explained.
The Lido Lake Clean-Up Action is part of the 2026 Lido Lake People's Festival, which has been running since September 10, with its main event scheduled for November 8, 2026. The festival serves as a collaborative platform bringing together local communities, younger generations, community organizations, MSME (micro, small, and medium enterprise) entrepreneurs, fish farmers, government institutions, the business sector, and various other stakeholders.
Through a variety of environmental, educational, cultural and arts, fisheries, and MSME development activities, the festival aims to foster greater awareness of Lido Lake, strengthen community participation, and create opportunities for local economic development.
Through the spirit of gotong royong and collaboration, the Lido Lake Clean-Up Action is expected to become an ongoing initiative to preserve an environment of great importance to the surrounding community. The initiative, driven by local residents and strengthened through the support of various stakeholders, is expected to encourage continued collective participation in protecting Lido Lake, ensuring environmental sustainability and long-term benefits for future generations.
